Jewelry Care
Jewelry is beautiful and delicate. Properly cared
jewelry will last a lifetime. Here are jewelry
care tips to help keep your jewelry sparkling
clean .
- Gold is malleable, avoid activities such as
cleaning, gardening, and sleeping while wearing
gold.
- Keep your jewelry free of dirt, cosmetics,
hair spray, perfumes, and perspiration.
- Salt water and harsh chemicals like chlorine
or detergents can harm gold and gemstones. Remove
jewelry before bathing, swimming.
- Protect your jewelry from scratches by using
a pouch or a jewelry box.
Diamond
Care
- Diamonds are the hardest known substance to
man, however they still can be chipped. Avoid
wearing diamond jewelry while doing rough work.

but may discolor the mounting.

each year with professional jewelry care.

Gemstone
Care
- It is industry practice to treat colored gemstones
to improve their appearance.
- Keep your gemstones away from salt water,
harsh chemicals, such as chlorine or detergents.
- Hair spray, perfumes and perspiration may
cause jewelry to dull.
- Opal, emerald and tanzanite are more fragile
than other gems. Never use commercial cleaning
solutions, and instead use a soft cloth and
lukewarm water to care for your gemstones. Store
these gems in cotton and never in plastic, as
these gems are easily cracked and scratched.
- Opals are very susceptible to temperature
changes. Never wear opal jewelry in cold weather,
while washing dishes, or handling frozen foods
Cultured
Pearls Care
- The surface of pearls, also known as the "nacre",
is a soft organic material, which can be easily
chipped, cracked and discolored.
- Proper care requires the "Last on - first
off" rule. Put your cultured pearl jewelry
on after cosmetics, hair spray, nail polish,
perfume, and clothing. Remove your pearls first
before you disrobe, to prevent damage.
- Never wear your pearls around harsh substances
such as chlorine.
- Seek professional jewelry care and cleaning,
if your pearls become heavily soiled.
- Ordinary wear and pollution weaken the silk
thread string. Get your Pearls professionally
re-strung and cleaned every year or 2, and more
frequently if you wear them often.
